Are tours given in any weather?

NYC is wonderful in any weather, Maptop’s Uptown Chauffered Food Tour is rain or shine! We provide our guests with umbrellas if needed. 

Due to use of equipment, Maptop’s Uptown Aperture: Chauffered Photography Tour will not operate in rainy conditions, in this case, we will be sure to notify any guests at least two hours before the start time of the tour.

Severe weather addendum:
If Maptop cancels a tour due to a severe weather event, we will be sure to contact you and all guests  will receive a full refund.

How should I dress during a tour?

A New Yorkers secret: wear comfortable shoes! Dress for ease and comfort, and if you are unsure about the temperatures for the day, we recommend wearing layers that can easily be removed or added on for your optimal comfort.

How much walking is involved?

Move and groove! Most of the tour will be experienced from the comfort of our spacious luxury vans, portions of the tour will involve a bit of walking. Let us know at the time of booking if you have any special requirements and we will accommodate your party as best we can.

Can I sit down during a tour?

The short answer is yes, as we will be transported in our luxury vehicles and will be seated in restaurants.  However, some of the non-food related locations involve some walking and standing.  Dancing is optional but encouraged!

Anything to offer a native New Yorker?

Come and share in the experiences and cultural delights that is Uptown Manhattan, we will make sure that you are making discoveries along the way. Have guests from out of town? Send them our way,  or better yet, join in and you will be able to explore parts of your city that may surprise you. Are tours offered in other languages?

Our Custom Private tours can be reserved at the time of booking in English, French or Japanese.

Will I have a good experience as a single?

Curiosity is one of the traits that our guests have in common, and with such an open perspective, you are sure to enjoy the company and the experience.

Are there bathroom stops?

All of our restaurant stops on our Uptown Chauffered Food Tour have bathroom accommodations.

Are the tours appropriate for children?

Our food tasting and cultural walking tours have been developed especially for food and history lovers.

We find that some children (age 12–14 and older)  have a blast on our tours and if you think yours will, please bring them along—our tours are great for young history buffs and food lovers.

Does Maptop provide child seats?

We are not able to provide child safety seats at this time.

Are the tours wheelchair/stroller accessible?

We do not have the capability to accommodate wheelchairs or strollers at this time.

Who will be in my Private Customized Chauffered Tour?

Maptop’s Private Customized Chauffered Tour is for a small group of your choosing of up to six people. Every private custom tour is run exclusively for you, your friends or family, with no other guests grouped in your individual tour.

What restaurants will we visit on the tour?

Maptop has curated some of the best, locally owned restaurants with flavors that tell a story about the people who have made our neighborhoods the wonderful places they are.

Are beverages served on the tour?

Unlimited bottled water is provided throughout the tour.

Is there wine on the tour?

While we love wine, alcoholic beverages are not included on the Uptown Chauffered Food Tour. We have arranged for a very special tasting menu with each of our restaurant partners on our tour, and our schedule does not allow the time required to order outside of the preset tasting. We thank you for your understanding.

How much food is there?

Our food tour is full of delicious flavors, you will be served generous tasting portions at each of our local neighborhood restaurants.

Will I need lunch afterwards?

Short answer is no! Our aim is to take great care of you as our guest, and like our mama always taught us, never let a guest leave hungry!

Can you accommodate for food allergies?

We want to make this the best experience possible for all of our guests!  If you have concerns about your food allegies, please check with your physician before booking the tour. 

Alternately, if you have an interest in a historical tour, please consider booking a private Maptop Custom Tour of your choosing.

Can I smoke during the Food Tour?

While we aim to to provide you with the highest level of comfort, New York City laws prohibit smoking of cigarettes, vapes, e-cigarettes or smoking of any kind, in public areas, indoors or out. We are a smoke free tour.

How long is a tour?

Our Uptown Chauffered Food Tour is a 4 hours.
Our Uptown Aperture: Chauffered Photography Tour is a 3 hours.

Maptop Private Customized Chauffered Tour are from 2–4 hours (flexible, please inquire).

How many people do you take on a tour?

Our luxury vans seat up to 12 guests.

What is included in the price of the tour?

The listed price of the tour includes an expert guide, experienced chauffeur, luxury vehicle; unlimited complimentary bottled water, and all taxes.  If you are on the Uptown Chauffered Food Tour, the tasting menu is included in the price of the tour.
